  • Fueling up in the morning in Roswell, NM before Mark and I parted ways.
  • Carrizozo was my point to jump off highway 380 and head North to Mountainair.
  • Pinto Bean Museum on the way from Carrizozo to Mountainair, NM
  • Church across from the pinto bean meseum. Only two cars on a Sunday morning, but there was singing inside.
  • A stop at some ruins.
  • The Gran Quivira ruins are on top of a ridge with a big view of the surroundings.
  • Gran Quivira is a very large ruin of an old pueblo of the Tompiro indians, Inhabited between 1300 and 1670 AD.
  • Gran Quivira ruins. About 1500-2000 people lived here. Must have been tough, it's dry and there are no rivers on top of a ridge.
  • Gran Quivira ruins with some people in them for scale.
  • On the outskirts of Mountainair, NM.

  • On the Turquoise Trail road on the East side of the mountains that are themselves East of Albuquerque.
  • My dirt road connector from the Turquoise Trail that heads West to the interstate for a quick run South to the Hyatt. This surface was fine, but there were a couple of sandy patches and I started working towards my Ewan McGregor merit badge by dropping the bike in the sand. DOH! Fortunately, it was within my powers to right it.....and no damage was done to bike or driver.
  • The road that dead-ends at the Hyatt Resort. No room charge, taxes, or even the resort fee due to use of Hyatt hotel points.
  • Nice room at the Hyatt. As they usually are.
  • A stairwell at the Hyatt with a zen sand and rock design.
